October’s Picks:

  • Domaine Vetriccie – $12

    Chardonnay, Vermentino – Cosica, France

A unique blend from a family-run estate located on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. This warm sunny climate and no oak makes for bright orchard fruits and a bite of bitter orange. Great match for creamy pastas, soups, and seafood.

    Colterenzio Pfefferer – $18

  • Pfefferer – Alto Adige, Italy

Alto Adige is a tiny region at the northernmost tip of Italy nestled in the mountains. Cooler, high-elevation vineyards imbue white grapes with intense aromatics and acidity, which is why this Pfefferer (aka the local name for Moscato) is so dry and delicious! Notes of pepper, flowers, lychee, and grapefruit.

  • Tezza “Campo di Majoli” – $14

Corvina, Cabernet Sauvignon – Veneto, Italy

From a multi-generational family winery outside Verona, an unusual blend of the classic Valpolicella grape Corvina and the nobel grape Cabernet. Spicy, rich, and velvety showing dried black cherry, heady flowers, pepper. Perfect for all the meatballs you’ll eat this fall.

  • Domaine Chantepierre – $16

Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre – Lirac, France

Courtesy of the excellent 2016 vintage and vines just across the river from Chateauneuf du Pape this may be one of the top values of the year. From an estate passed through the generations for a few hundred years this is ripe and rich with kirsch, cassis, plum, and rosemary notes wrapped up in savory earthy spice. As the weather cools and you break out your favorite roast recipe be sure to open a bottle of this to go with it!
