April’s Picks:

  • Chateau Ducasse

Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle – Bordeaux, France

From winemaker Hervé Dubourdieu’s family vineyards, which they’ve owned since 1890. A classic Bordeaux white blend, aged all in steel, to preserve the bright, citrusy, zesty fruit. A great match for pork or even curry chicken.

  • Azienda Santa Barbara

    Verdicchio – Marche, Italy

From Marche, on the Adriatic side of Italy’s coast, comes this steel-aged summer sipper. Crisp notes of green apple, white flowers, tea, and a hint of sea spray. A chilled bottle of this white pairs best with a hammock and a lazy afternoon.

  • Chateau de Manissy “La Belle Étoile”

Syrah, Grenache – Cotes du Rhone, France

This is a classic French country red, from winemaker Florian André’s mother’s organic vineyards. Hand-picked grapes, no oak, juicy, plummy fruits and Mediterranean spice. A great match for lamb or bleu cheese burgers.

  • Marqués de Vargas “Crianza”

    Tempranillo – Rioja, Spain

The Vargas family has been growing grapes in Rioja since 1840. Aged for a year in oak, this is classic Rioja – dark, full fruits, with a softly earthy finish. Aromas of cassis, plum and cinnamon lead to flavors of spicy red-berry fruits, with hints of baking spice and cocoa. Bordeaux fans should love Rioja wines, especially paired with something hearty, like lamb or beef.
