Tasting Notes: 40 Ounces of Summertime

posted in: wine picks | 0

You ever see something and just think, “I’ve GOT to have that”? That was my initial reaction to the wondrous sight of a 40oz bottle of French rosé. It was everyone else’s reaction too because the few cases I could get last year disappeared in a blink. So this year I used all my top wine guy skills (mostly begging and pleading) to secure plenty more – and it arrives this Thursday! Hopefully it lasts until July (but better stock up just in case!).

Forty Ounce Rosé – $16
The Details:  A unique blend, mostly Gamay and Merlot, sourced from sustainable vineyards in France’s Loire Valley. A joint project between noted sommelier Patrick Cappiello and up-and-coming French winemaker Julien Braud.
The Notes: Light, crisp, fresh, fun, and way too easy to drink. Strawberry lemonade spiked with a hit of tonic and lime. The perfect spring and summertime thirst quencher that pairs perfectly with cookouts, cornhole matches, beach trips, and lazy afternoons spent on the back deck.
